About Mālama Earthventures & Our Philosophy

At Mālama, we create tailor-made dive and wildlife expeditions that are planned around your personal wishes and interests. Each journey is unique and carefully curated. We either personally test our locations and/or work with trusted local partners. Whenever possible, we focus on sustainable options and the support of local communities, far from mass tourism.

Our trips focus on unforgettable wildlife encounters, such as close encounters with orcas in Arctic fjords or diving with manta rays on remote Indonesian reefs. Each journey combines expert-led guidance, responsible travel, and off-the-beaten-path experiences. Everything is designed just for you and cannot be found in a standard travel catalogue.

While it might seem cheaper to book everything separately, planning a complex dive or wildlife trip on your own takes a lot of time, research, and risk. With Mālama, you have one dedicated point of contact who takes care of every detail, before, during, and after your trip. We only work with trusted local experts and operators we know personally, which means no guesswork, no endless searching, and no unreliable providers.
Our local partners often offer special rates, added services, or priority access that individual travelers wouldn’t receive when booking directly. And if anything unexpected happens while you're traveling, you’re never on your own — we and our local contacts are here to help. All of this allows you to enjoy a smoother and more enriching journey.

“Mālama” is a Hawaiian word meaning to care for, protect, and preserve. It reflects our commitment to conscious travel, deep respect for the ocean, and meaningful connections with the people and places we visit. Find out more about Mālama Earthventures.

We partner with organizations and businesses that share our values and actively give back through education, conservation, and fair employment. This includes marine biologists, eco-conscious operators, and local teams committed to sustainability. We support conservation efforts, including trips that directly support research or wildlife protection programs, avoid mass tourism and destinations where animals are exploited for tourism, and aim to create a positive impact in each destination.
